Notes for Charis

Hard to believe you’re already graduating!! You are the best big, friend, and cheerleader I could have hoped for. Thanks for swooping in and guiding me from freshman year until now! I admire your enthusiasm for school, loyalty to your friends, and fiery spirit. You’ll be sorely missed at King’s, but I know you’re off to do incredible things. You rock!

GIRL, WHERE DO I START.

I’ll keep it short (like us ;)), but I love you so much, I’m so proud of you, and don’t forget about us when you’re busy taking over the world. Thank God we were in almost all of the same classes spring of freshman year–Met trips, movie dates, and midterm commiseration, to boot. Love you long time. xoxo

The only person who gets participation points for their facial expressions.

CHARIS! I love you and am so proud of your hard work! What a friend you have become to me over the past year. Thank you so much for your love and for always praising my efforts to keep my twitter free of spelling and grammatical errors!

Feisty Franklin,

You are fierce, loyal, talented, clever, and tender. You have been a gift to me for years. Ever since I threw pillows at you in a moldy Clark apartment, we have sojourned through seasons together. We’ve shared apartments, tears, victories, prayers, fears, friends, and a fish. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sisterhood never looked so good.

Thank you for always keeping things interesting. Your sleep talk conversations with yourself at 3am are comedic gold. “ssm”

Cheers to you Charis,
the best is yet to come.

I love you!

I am so proud of you and am anticipating what a difference you will make in your world. Proverbs 3:5-6 and Philippians 1:6

Congratulations Grand-Big!!!! What a joy it was to experience my first year at King’s with you! I can’t wait to see all of the things you’re going accomplish, you are one of the smartest, most tenacious people I know. Whatever you do, I have no doubt you will do it excellently 😉

Charis, you’re such a cool person, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to know you these three years. I’m excited to see what God has in store for you!

There’s so much that I could share about you, from tacos our first year, to sitting on foldable chairs in the middle of summer with no AC, but there isn’t enough time. I could tell all of these stories that would span hundreds of pages to reach the same conclusion: I love you, and I am so proud of you.

You have blessed me with three years of friendship, and I cannot wait for more. Just because your years at TKC have ended, doesn’t mean that our friendship has. I’m going to be in your corner whatever that looks like; whether there’s a train line, or an airplane separating us, I will always be one call or text away.

You’ve taught me resilience, patience, kindness, grace, and hope. I cannot imagine these last years without you, you who are so dear to my heart. And while I could selfishly wish that you stay with me, I cannot wait to see what you do. I do not doubt that you’re going to go on to do great things; you’ve set your mind to it and will not settle for less.

You’re a marvelous woman, Charis.

Go do marvelous things.

Charis you have always been so kind to me and I appreciate that so much! I owe my internship at MI to you, and you calmed my nerves before I wrote my first Tubbs paper. You are such a powerhouse and I know you’ll do anything you put your mind to.

Charis,

It’s a maxim to say you never stop making friends and you’re certainly one of my newer ones. Your dedication to doing well is clear for everyone to see. Your care for others and selflessness is also evident in your actions. Congratulations on graduating and I know you’re going to do great things in the future!

You manage your time and balance career with the rest of life like no one else. I’m a fan of both the person you are and the person you’re becoming!

Charis,

I’m thankful for this recent friendship that flourished over Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin (we know she did it) and brought many moments of uncontrollable laughter (usually over Zoom). You’re a great student with a great sense of humor. Wishing you all the best beyond King’s!

My dear grandlittle. I have watched you toil for the things you care for and let go of the things that belong to God over and over – a cycle of growing and surrendering. You are equipped for every good thing ahead of you. I believe in you. And wow, I am so proud of your accomplishments. Know you always have a friend in me.

I’m just surprised they let a minor graduate 😉

Congrats Charis! Come back soon so we can discuss life drama over coffee or Thai food and I can teach you how to cook.

Charis,

Your drive is inspiring and your work ethic is humbling. I know you will do spectacular things in the future. I also know you’ll probably never stop eating popcorn! It’s been a joy being your friend and sending you dog photos

I love you care bear and am so proud of you and Papa would have been also. I know without a shadow of a doubt you will totally succeed in your life!!

Love
Nanny Franklin

Charis… you were marked by the image of a lion way before The King’s College.

“There are no accidents. Our guide is Aslan; and he was there when the giant King caused the letters to be cut, and he knew already all things that would come of them; including this.” – C.S. Lewis

Reading you the stories of Aslan as a little girl, I had no idea the heavenly strength growing inside you. Beautiful, passionate, and strong, you will continue to leave a divine mark on this world. I love you deeply. As your dad, I am so proud of you Charis. Congratulations!

Long before The King’s College, another lion had made His mark on your soul. As I read the stories of Aslan to you as a little girl, I had no idea of the strength growing inside you.

“There are no accidents. Our guide is Aslan; and he was there when the giant King caused the letters to be cut, and he knew already all things that would come of them; including this.” – C.S. Lewis

Your beauty, passion, and strength will leave a divine mark everywhere you go. As your dad, I am so proud of you. Congratulations babe!

Charis, What a pleasure to have had you in several courses in your last three semesters at TKC. You maintained a very high standard in your work here, and I congratulate you heartily on earning your PPE degree and graduating cum laude. Blessings & all good wishes, and please stay in touch.

Charis!! I remember when you bought me coffee on move-in day the first year everyone lived at Albee and I think it was in that moment that we first became friends (maybe? It was really a gradual thing and I loved watching it grow). We’ve had more coffee dates than I can count since then, and I’m so thankful for our friendship! You’re forever the Jake Peralta to my Amy Santiago–thank you for your honesty, and for the example you set through your work ethic and by always walking in grace and truth!

Charis, Those weekends in BK heights freshman year were a refuge for me. Thanks for being so welcoming and making me, and everyone around you, feel at ease. I love that we can pick up right where we left off. You’ve shown me what it’s like to love fiercely and to tackle every activity with unbridled determination. King’s is better because of you.

I have always admired you so much. You’re so driven, brilliant, and hardworking. You’re the only person who I think embodies Hermione more than Emma Watson. I hope that life after King’s is kind to you and that you stay a fighter.
