Notes for Kaitlyn

What will I do without my Abby pop in’s!? Who’s going to give me hugs when I round the corner there? Do you ever stop smiling? Even in rough patches, you find joy and share it with others. May the Lord lead you in His paths as you go from here. May all your goals and dreams come true–of course, you’d have to live to 120 to have time for them ALL to come true!

You superb weirdo. We are going to miss all the joys of Abby Tilly. Our first and perhaps most grand friend from King’s. Blessings in all your future shenanigans.

Dude, we made it! I shall forever remember coming up with songs to study for Old Testament (Teeee! Is for the Second Temple!). I can’t wait to see an Oxford class description for “Katabasis in the Classics” with Kaitlyn Tilly, Ph.D. Thank you for being a great friend these four years and I look forward to hanging out without homework hanging over our heads 😉 Congrats Crowley

Thank you for being such an inspiring friend! I’m really sorry we never got to be in a show together (RIP RAGAD), but at least we got to see each other perform and cheer each other on. I hope to see you visit sometime!

Abby! So proud of what you accomplished at King’s and I know you’re off to even greater things. Happy Graduation! 🙂

Wow Abby here you are!!! I’m so incredibly proud of you and tremendously grateful for your friendship! You are a shining star and the Classical Literature world has no idea how lucky they are to have snagged you. I can’t wait to read your future translations of your one true love…Marcus Tullius Cicero. I’m honored to know you, love you, and share an apartment with you. I’m blessed to have experienced so many adventures and shenanigans with you for the last 3 years. So, here’s to all of your future shenanigans, whether they be Classical, Shakespearian, and/or full of tea! Congratulations!!!!

My dearest, darlingest big, campus won’t be the same without you. I will never stop thanking my lucky stars that we happened to be next to each other in line for ice cream after Great Race 2017 (or sitting next to each other on strat, if I remember correctly?), because that kicked off one of the most treasured friendships I’ll ever have. Love you!!!

ABBY. You were by far the brightest spot of my first on-campus job. You were the best person to have in the cubicle next door. You absolutely never fail to make me laugh, and even as someone who didn’t know you as well as I would have liked, I know that King’s will be poorer without you. I adore you, and cannot wait to see all that you achieve!

Abby, where can I even start? It may seem like Fate and life have it out for you, but even if they do you’re going out with kindness and grace. You may not let many people see the real you, but those who get to are the luckiest people alive. For anyone who actually knows you, you are talented, intelligent, caring, hilarious, kind, and generous. I still think Greece did more for the arts than Rome, but, regardless, you’re going to crush it in the Classics! If you end up at Oxford they’ll be lucky to have you, but I can’t wait to see what these next fews years will hold. “A hunted man sometimes wearies of distrust and longs for friendship,” but I know that, like Strider/Aragorn, all this will shape you into someone who is, well, good brave and ready.

Abby! I am SO lucky I got to meet you, work with you, laugh with you, and direct you for a hot second. Your nerdy love for all things Shakespeare, Lit, and Philosophy is truly impressive, and you bring so much life and charisma where we you go! Kings is losing a great. Can’t wait to see where life takes you next!

Thank you for believing in my star power much before I did! You truly have inspired me to be myself and have a good time. Thank you for molding me and being my friend!! I love you and I will def come back for more adventures.

Anticipating an Abby-shaped void on campus next fall. Keep me informed!

Abby! Running into you in the halls is like the best thing ever. You are always excited to see people and then of course give them a comforting Abby hug. You’ve made me feel welcome on campus many times (and I know you always went above and beyond to welcome fellow Ten Boomers). You fearlessly break into song and bring smiles to everyone around you. Keep sharing your joy. Congratulations Abby!

Your love of theater and all things creative is amazing to see and I’ve no doubt that you’ll help spark an increased appreciation for these in the minds of others just as you did with me. Looking forward to seeing all that the future has in store for you!

Abby,

What a privilege it has been to watch you lead TKP these past 2 years! I am so proud of all you have accomplished and all the innovation you have brought to the table. You are an incredible adventurer, and a true love for the creativity you put into the world. It’s really cool to watch.

Congratulations on graduating!! I look forward to seeing where life takes you next.

My tea-time partner!!!! Abby, you are one of my first friends at King’s and have remained tried-and-true through all these years. I love reminiscing about the future (yes, I know I just said that and it doesn’t make sense, but that’s really what it is), planning to live in English flats, reading poetry in Central Park, and galavanting the city. Thank you for asking me to sing to you the first time we met. You were one of the first people to break me out of my shy lil shell, and I love you deeply for the friendship you’ve blessed me with ever since.

Cheers to many more tea-times, adventures, and nerd-sessions about history! Congratulations you fine classicist <3

From one Oxford lover to another, congratulations!! I know Simon is smiling upon us. As the Brits say, cheers to your future and wishing you the best!

Abby, I’ll always be proud to be your grand-little. Thank you for making me feel so welcome in ten Boom and in King’s Players (alas for RAGAD’s untimely end!). You are a star!

Abby I am so proud of you for graduating in the arts! A fellow soldier! I will always remember you as I knew you in I think, 4th grade in Florence MS. Am retiring from teaching this month and going back to painting, my previous career. I wish you courage and fortitude in your journey of creativity through this life of yours.

Abby,

Thank you for being my Marvel-movie buddy (although I will admit those Dr. Strange seats were horrid), travel companion both local and international (let’s try not to travel during a pandemic again though. And I would like to avoid getting kicked in the head by train conductors again), maker of mischief (still sorry about my inability to lie), source of all things theater (not sure how I didn’t get a noise complaint when you, Isa, and I were singing broadway tunes at the top of our lungs last year), front-row friend, and a constant source of laughter.

I’m so proud to have watched you go from playing the fairy-godmother in your freshman year drama comp to becoming president of the King’s Players to stage managing an off-broadway play. I look forward to seeing where your passion for theater brings you in the coming years.

Your very proud Big.

Crazy how much has changed since our freshman year living together in 20L!!! & thank goodness for that haha! You are awesome. Glad to know you. Can’t wait to see what is in store for ya. Congrats!

Abby, you have only barely begun to see what a beautiful and extraordinary woman the Lord made you to be. I saw leadership in you early on, not only because of your ability to manage people and events, but because of your heart for others. I’m so blessed to have gotten to know you in your time at Kings, and am looking forward to staying in touch beyond. Much love to you in these next steps! I’m just a few blocks away from you now – come over for coffee any time!

You made it!!! Not that I doubted you would.

Over the last four years I have seen you grow and develope and mature and I am so proud of you.

– Your adoring father.

Abby, Abby, Abby. Where do I even start? Its been pure joy having you at King’s lo these past years. You’re so talented and in so many different ways. And you know how to throw a mean Artisan’s Guild event! When you think of me, and you will, be kind. Kidding! Remember, we’ll always have quarantined London!

It has been a pleasure and joy to know you, Abby. How I’ll miss your laugh and amazing sense of humor. You are one talented lady! Use that talent to do many great things and travel the world! Congrats and blessings on a job well done!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Abby,

Thank you for being such a great ten Boom sister. I remember when you housed me that night I was introduced to my first NYC mouse. Thank you for all the laughs, you will de deeply missed! Congrats(:

Best,
Serena

Congratulations, Abby! I am so proud of you and the young woman you have become! I look forward to seeing what God has planned for you, and wish you the best in everything! I love you!

Abby, it’s been a blast having classes with you! You know more about Rome and geese than I could ever dream. Thankful that we *survived* Latin together!

Abby, I can always count on you to get as excited about history (or pretty much anything, really) as I am, and I am so thankful for that! You’re going to do amazing things with the classics, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. Looking forward to the day where we can have that second coffee date!

Abby, I feel so lucky to be your friend. You are the kind of person that takes care of friends you love, and I have felt so blessed to be one of those people. Whether it was eating chicken nuggets after walking through a downpour near NYU, sitting on a train at ungodly hours trying to get home from Philly, giving me hugs in the hallway, having me over for dinner, or gallivanting around London in the middle of a crisis, you have been there for me. I’m glad we became friends after our mutual curator crisis, and I can’t wait to go and visit you in London someday.
