Notes for Kathryn

Kathryn, I still remember your freshman year when you gently (and rightly) corrected me about a misused term. I wish you well and hope you keep in touch!

I’ve enjoyed many a van-ride conversation with you and benefited from your intellectual curiosity and scope of learning. I’ll never forget that when you discovered that your independent research on topic lined up perfectly in scope and organization with a seminal work on the topic by a noted scholar that you had never read. You’d recreated his work!

I’m glad to have had you in class and debate your senior year and regret the latter was cut short. I look forward to hearing what comes next.

Congratulations friend! Thank you for continually being a person who has pushed and sharpened me both academically and intellectually in debate, classes, and life. You’re absolutely one of the brightest people I know, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

KC

you have and always will be one of the biggest lights in my life. You are so incredibly smart, brave, and one of the kindest people I know. You never fail to challenge the people around you and I can’t wait to see what amazing things you’re going to accomplish. Also one day you will convince me to learn Russian.

KC, I couldn’t ask for a better person to have as a roommate and friend while at King’s. I’ll never truly be able to fathom your political and historical brilliance, and I’m so proud of how you’re willing to challenge ideas, whether in conversation, in classes, or at King’s in general. I can’t wait for you to get back to the city so we can properly celebrate!!

Glad we had Israel and Dr. Ballard together. You made both experiences something I thought more deeply about. Continue to inspire those around you to do that! Best wishes post grad.

You are the most warm and welcoming person, even if you don’t think you are. I’m so grateful for you and everything you’ve done for me, the good and the bad. I love you so much, and I’m so proud of you!!

I’m gonna miss you bro. I’m saving up so when this is all over we can buy a moose named Egg and move to New Hampshire, or wherever moose like to roam.

Katie,

I’m so glad God gave me you! You’ve worked incredibly hard through life-threatening illness and held down jobs outside of school. Your perseverance inspires me. I’m so proud of you, sweet daughter.

Much love, Mom

Congratulations! One of my first memories of King’s was with you in the elevator at 90 Wash showing me your list of fun facts. Since then I have never known you to be unprepared for any situation (whether that be from your sheer brilliance, quick wit, or both I don’t know).
Thank you for the many theoretical conversations on long car rides, sharing a room with me at house retreat, willingness to share your passions and interest, and the patience and grace you’ve shown me. If the opportunity ever arises, I look forward to being a Co-Camp Director.
I’m excited to see where your future takes you, and look forward to hearing all about it!

KC! Congrats! Thankful for our time in debate and classes together and thinking about freshmen year when we had that small picnic in Battery Park. Cheers!

KC, you are such a talented genius! It was an honor getting to know you while I was on the Debate team. I loved seeing you geek out and demolish the competitors during tournaments. Congrats on all your accomplishments!
