Marina!!!!! You are the coolest collaborator, the best photographer, and I’m so excited to see where you go. I’ll work on getting Pantone to *actually* hire us for the next shoot!

Marina, you are so talented, but more than your talent, I really value your kindness. Every time I have a conversation with you, you make me feel like there’s no one else in the world you would rather be talking to, and that’s a really rare gift. You know how to bring out the best in people on camera because you bring out the best of them in real life! You display kindness and compassion in everything you do. Congratulations on your graduation.

Oh, Marina. How much joy you bring to the world!!

I am so glad to know you, love. You are creative, intelligent, kind, and a joy to know. My first memory of you is actually from afar. I remember watching the House Video you shot for SBA’s competition, and I remember thinking “Oh that girl is going places.” Since then, you have definitely proven me right. 😉

Thanks for being a friend, a colleague, and also my wedding photographer. I have no doubt I will continue to see you plenty. Congratulations on graduating love!! You should be so proud.

Our star! A graduate! Congrats kid! P.S. aren’t you soooo happy you’ll never be asked to make a video for house competitions ever again???

Marina!! My best friend!! When you told me you were going to leave our small town and go to college in New York City, I never doubted you for a second. Now after four years you are graduating and I couldn’t be more proud! You have taught me so much and I’m so lucky you are my sister. I love you!!

MY WOMAN & first friend in the big apple ❤️ I adore everything about you. Watching you create beautiful things is one of my favorite things to witness! BIG HUGS COMING AT YAH!

I remember the day that you burst into the house announcing that you had found THE college for you ~ The King’s College. Now you are graduating with an MCA degree from The King’s College!! I am SO PROUD of you! As I think back over the past 4 years I remember your ups and downs. I recall phone calls with tears and phone calls with over the moon excitement. I know how hard you have worked to succeed at living, working and studying in NYC. You have shown incredible grit and determination. I have prayed for you every day, my little girl in the big city, and now I say ~ see what the Lord has done! Enjoy this moment, sweetie! I love you and I look forward to your bright future! Love, Mom

Congratulations Marina!

You’re an inspiration. Keep ice skating every chance you get- I’m sad we never got to go together! Wishing you all the best beyond King’s & with Breakfast at the Bodega!

Dear Sweet Marina,

Picture this: it’s Autumn 2016, and you’re lounging at a small table sipping on a mouthwatering latté in a coffee shop the size of a studio apartment. You’re anticipating a fifty-year-old man to enter and share with you a little knowledge on animation—he must be fifty, right? All animators are like 50+.

Flipside: A twenty-one-year-old boy approaches said coffee shop, with a smile on his face that says: “Ope, I am definitely from Ohio.” He does not know what to expect, for his focus is directed to the perspiration he is experiencing… everywhere (seriously, is NYC heat always like this?)

The boy enters the shop, scanning the room. There are literally four people: a couple in the corner, a very tall man in line, and… oh? He spots the girl, but gets nervous and steps in line, hoping she doesn’t notice.

She noticed. “Justin?” she asks, and that boy turns around to officially meet THE Marina Elise Barham—quite possibly one of the most thoughtful, selfless, talented, and beautiful human beings in existence.

I know we didn’t do much animating that morning, but above anything else, I realized I’d met my best friend. You were a freshman then, now you are a graduating senior. It is truly whimsical reminiscing on all of the incredible work you’ve created during your college career, from fashion films to a coffee commercial on the Brooklyn Bridge. Being by your side all these years has revealed so much about your character, and I am beyond excited to watch you grow as you transition into this new chapter of your life. Congratulations, love. 🙂

Marina,
Beautiful dreamer, keep dreaming your dreams because the world needs your art which is so full of hope and promise. You are an effervescent light and your work is not only a beautiful expression of yourself but it reminds us that good prevails and it brings The Kingdom of God to earth! I feel so fortunate to count you as family and to have watched you grow and take off these last five years! Love you !

I love you, your Awmaw.

Marina, Thank you so much for bringing not just your incredible talent, but also your kindness and generosity to King’s and SBA these past four years. Your talent and kindness makes the world a more beautiful place, and I can’t wait to see the incredible films you’re bound to make (anyone who might be reading this, you should go support Breakfast at the Bodega ASAP). Congratulations!!!

Marina!!!

I remember seeing your work before you arrived on campus, and I was so inspired by the magic you created on camera.

May you continue to make beautiful work that only you can make. I am so excited to see what you create in the future!

<3

Marina,

You’re a savage. But you’re also classy, a little bougie, and just a tad ratchet.

We felt threatened when you were hired in The Media Lab, and now (almost four years later), I acknowledge that we were perfectly justified in feeling that. You’re an incredible friend, a diligent coworker, and a creative visionary.

Onward to incredible things (specifically, tik tok fame!)

Looking forward to Paris!

Love ya,
Hen

Marina, has it already been four years since I first emailed you asking if we could use that killer pic of you in Times Square in King’s marketing? I’m grateful you were part of the Media Lab/M&C family. You effortlessly poured so much creativity and style into our community, but I know that “effortless” is the last thing it was. You are so good at what you do, striving to become better, and it’s the result of countless hours of HARD work.

Congratulations on all your success to date and everything to come. And thank you for stepping in to make something beautiful among the ashes one early morning in Flatbush. I look forward to working together again!!

Marina, Congratulations! So excited to see all the lives you touch with the stories you tell through your gifts. You are such a joyful person to be around! Best of luck with everything.

Marina,

Today is the day you’ve been working towards these past 4 years… GRADUATION DAY!! Congratulations! I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished! I wish things were different and we could watch you walk across the stage to get your diploma today. But even a pandemic can’t take away how hard you’ve worked for this degree, the experiences you’ve had, the friends you’ve made, or the career that you’ve built! I am so excited for you and what God has in store for you! I LOVE YOU!!

❤️ Keeks
