Notes for Mercedes

MERCEDES! Goodness I will miss you so much. Your smiling face and always-willing/joyful attitude has been a gift to our community. Congratulations on graduating! We will not be the same without you.

Mercedes! What a pleasure it was to get to know you during your time at King’s. I can’t believe it’s time for you to graduate. Congrats!

Mercedes,

I recently viewed the new Disney Pixar film: “Onward”. I thought it to be quite delightful. Anyway. While viewing, I couldn’t help but liken your King’s experience to it. You, the main character — Good, Brav… Sorry. Not always sure of your path. Always believing in magic. Cameron and I are some combination of the older brother and the Manticore. The Honda Element – their trusty van Guinevere, and the dragon is undoubtedly Inviso.

As our visitation spell slowly runs out, I hope you feel that we’ve prepared you for the dragons of this world. And know that someday, I’m confident you’ll write a story even better than the one you lived here with us.

Onward!

Oh Mercedes… where to begin. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am honored that you have decided to remain my friends for the past three years and I cannot wait to see all the adventures we go on in the future. I am so proud of you and to be one of your friends and I hope you keep on believing that… in the end, it’s only a passing thing this shadow. A new day will dawn and when the sun shines again it will shine out the clearer.
Congratulations Aziraphale 🙂

Mercedes,

It’s always been my pleasure to watch you grow and become who you are over the years. This is another big step in that journey, well done. I’m excited to see what you have yet to give the world and I’m so thankful to be able to continue celebrating you!

Mercedes, You are one of the hardest-working people at King’s, especially behind the scenes. You’ve contributed so much to both the school and SBA that many people will never know, but you’ve always done so unhesitatingly, no matter the lack of recognition. Your stories and art are truly incredible, and I can’t wait to see the work you produce post-grad. I’ll miss sitting by your lunchbox in the faculty wing while you run around the school doing actual work! Congratulations!!!!

Cedes, how interesting that the 2 photos I would choose to best represent you – your sense of wonder and fun – include the photo you chose and the photo of the 3yr old you at the aquarium in Seward, AK. Both hint at the light within you! And both have fish in them! Lol! Dad and I are so proud of you and so excited to follow your continued adventures, fish or no fish! Love you 🐞
Chele & Dad XOXO

I am so proud of all your hard work & dedication. You stepped WAAYY out of your comfort zone & got to experience such great new things!! I know you will continue to always search for adventure & never settle for what anyone says you have to do.

Mercedes!! You have been a constant source of joy and authenticity these past four years at King’s. I am so happy that we will be graduating together and that we got to be SBAbes together as well. I cannot wait to see where this crazy, good life takes you.

You’re a light to this world! Here’s to a new season full of joy and hope. 🙂

Congratulations on your graduation! We are very proud of you!

“All our dreams can come true… if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney.

Love you,
John, Jenney and Daniel 💙

Mercedes!! I am so thankful that we were paired together for Waiting for Godot. It was a blast! If it wasn’t for that time, we probably wouldn’t even know each other right now. But I am so thankful to you know! You are always so fun to spend time with and are one of the only people who cares as much about Disney as I do! I hope our friendship cares on because you are always such a joy to talk to. Keep being awesome!

Congratulations, Mercedes! Your patient, gentle heart is one I admire so, and I wish you nothing but sweet times in this next chapter.

Sweetheart Mercedes! I confess to misty eyes as I sit and contemplate the absolute joy and pure pride that I know your mom has for you at this plateau in your journey. Mr Sloat and I are honored to offer our congratulations to you for your graduation. Can’t wait to see where you go next!! ❤️❤️

Mercedes, so proud of you! Wherever your adventures take you, may you get the most from them you can. When I first learned you were going to New York, I was like WOW, my shy little niece, in that huge city! But, you made it! Congratulations, love aunt Vi. ❤️

Oh Mercedes, If your path to being a Cum Laude College Graduate were a stairway, I’m so glad I was privileged to be one step along the way up. You are a remarkably brave and brilliant woman. Go forth and conquer.

Mercedes! You always shared such great stories with Odeon when we were first starting up as a club. You’re sweet spirit and talent will take you far!

Dear Cedes,
Congratulations and lots of woot woots and way-to-goes and best wishes on your future adventures! Sounds like you had an amazing college experience and looking forward to hearing what comes next!
Lots of love and best wishes,
Tim

Always a pleasure gaining insights through your writing into that widely imaginative brain of yours. Looking forward to what the future has in store for you!

Sweet Mercedes, you have so many unique gifts and are such a kind friend! I’m so glad that we were freshman roommates so that I got to meet you and get to know you. I love hearing you tell stories; you have such a great sense of humor. Sending my love!

Mercedes!! I am so glad to have met you during our time here at King’s. Your passion for art and beauty (especially in animation, of course!!) is infectious and I’m so excited to see where your path takes you. I’ll miss seeing you around!

Toothless,

Congrats and well done! I’m so glad to have been your roommate these last few years, thanks for putting up with me. Here’s to more aquarium and beach adventures once NYC opens up again. For now we’ll have to continue binge-watching TV now that you don’t have classwork!

Miss you! Toast and I are looking forward to you coming back.

Oh my goodness! How the time flies! It seems like just yesterday that we were all celebrating in Wisconsin for 4th of July! Now you’re graduated from college in a field that you love! I’m so PROUD of YOU! Congratulations Cedes! You deserve this. You worked hard and succeeded. Keep up the great work!

Mercedes,

Congrats from Montana. And now a new adventure awaits. I give you the same advice I give my own kids…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5,6

Love,
Steph

Mercedes,
Congratulations on graduating! I honestly look up to you more than you would ever know. The steps you’ve taken to get to where you are are admirable. I am so proud and can not wait to see what you accomplish in the years to come!!

Congratulations, Mercedes! You will be dearly missed in the Media Lab. Who will work all the long weekend events with me now? But in all seriousness, I am so proud of you and all your hard work! I cannot wait to see where your creative pursuits take you!

My Dearest Sadie bug, How time has flown. I saw the photo that Michelle posted of you at the aquarium and I had to hold back a tear. It wasn’t but yesterday you and Maggie were that little. What wonderful memories and we wish you so many more. I know your mom would be soooo proud. Love you girl. Congratulations!!

Mercedes, Congratulations! Thank you for all of your contributions to our musicals. I appreciate your creativity, hard work, and wonderful attitude in serving the team. Wishing you all the best!

Mercedes, I’m so glad I met you. You are the sweetest and radiate joy. I also think it’s SO RAD you worked at the Central Park Zoo!! Congratulations on graduating!!

Mercedes!!! One of the coolest, snarkiest, and kindest people I know. At Supper Club, your arguments with Betsy have been one of the most life-giving things that I’d always look forward to. It’s been a blessing to you know and see your creativity come out in the most unique ways (so pumped to read through your senior project!!). I look forward to seeing all that God has planned for your life in the coming years!

Mercedes, you are an incredible student and a dedicated worker. Thank you for blessing us with your talents and gifts. You will be missed! Blessings to you!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Oh, Cedebug!
We are so very proud of all your accomplishments! Congratulations! We are looking forward to what is yet to come for you.
Just a fun photo from your crazy aunt.
Love you to the Moon and back!

Mercedes, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you these past four years. I’m so glad we were able to have so many MCA classes together. You’re so thoughtful and creative, and I’m so excited to see what God has for you!

MY VIKING FRIEND.

You thought I was weird. I thought you were weird. It worked.

Seriously, you made college more fun – from hang outs to events shifts to Interregnum or faculty wing crashes, it was a good ride. Best of luck post-grad!

Eddie VanZandt

Mercedes, congrats! It was always such a joy seeing your kind, creative self around campus. Best of luck to you as you start this new season!

Congratulations Mercedes!!!! May the One who made you and directed all your steps thus far will continue to do so in your next endeavor. God bless you!
