Notes for Meric

Meric, You are missed! Thank you for all the ways you have served me and the school during your time here. You are such a talented man and I am grateful to have had you here. Congrats on graduating!

Congratulations, Meric! You are a Renaissance man, my friend. Thank you for helping me make the transition to managing student finances. I couldn’t have done it without you. God bless you.

Meric! Thank you for all the ways you served the student development team and the statesmanship institute! You are greatly missed already. Your service was above and beyond. I am really grateful for you! Take care!

Meric! NO! I know you’ve already been gone for a semester, but we want you to come back. Thank you for your dedicated and reliable work throughout your time at King’s. You made this place better, and I know you’ll have the same affect on the companies who have the pleasure of hiring you in the future!

Would Student Development or Nick Swedick functioned without you all these years? Probably not. Thank you for always going above and beyond in whatever task was asked of you!

Meric! Thank you for serving alongside the Student Development team. I appreciate you always helping me with the random questions that I had. We miss you greatly and please know that you have left a lasting impression. Congratulations!

Congratulations Meric! I wish I could have seen even more of you, but I’m grateful for the times we had. Go do great things!

Meric!

I was oh so worried about how we would get through a semester of events without you. But then….. we didn’t have to! So even in times of chaos, you’re always saving the day. I wish you all the best, and please please learn how to open a coconut safely.

Meric!

You have saved me more times than I can count. Thank you for being such a reliable friend. You are brilliant, hardworking, and kind. Even though we had that one fight when you were driving and I was navigating, I have faith we will be friends for a long time.

Meric, you are truly a legend in King’s College history. Though I still think it is unfair that you have a photographic memory (or however you call it), thank you for always being willing to help. Congratulations Grad!

Meric, Meric, Meric.

It all started three years ago with a phone call. Since then, we’ve lived together through six semesters, four apartments, two boroughs, and two stints on House Exec teams. We’ve dealt with crazy roommates, crazy times, crazy Russians, and living with an unwanted green screen in that corner of the living room. You made me a little more social and cultured, and I think I made you a little more chill and Irish. Either way, my time at King’s would not have been half as interesting without Mr. Business Department himself as my bunk mate.

Thank you for the laughs, the insanity, and the piles and piles of unwanted candy. For the love of God, please stop buying so many things in bulk. Meric, don’t know what I’ll do without you, it’s been such a good ride. Keep in touch.

Sincerely,
Eddie VanZandt

P.S. – Sorry about the picture, but it’s a rare nugget of history that needs to be preserved. You’re the best scholar that Bonhoeffer will ever have, and that’s a fact.

MERIC! You already know I am SO proud of you and so excited to see where you go after graduation (heck, where you already are!). Thank you for putting up with me as my business FA last semester and for always being there when I need you. You are so intentional and kind and I admire those traits greatly. I hope there are many more game nights ahead (oh, and gummies! Always gummies).

Meric, thank you for letting me yell “Meric Christmas” at you in the hall for years. You’re a man of many talents and have one of the best senses of humor at King’s. You’re going to CRUSH it in post-grad life!

Meric, thank you for sharing your advice and wisdom over the years. You have left big shoes to fill. You’re going to do amazing things in this world! Keep working hard!

Meric!!! What a pleasure it was to have you at King’s and to work with you. I have absolutely no doubt that that your life will be extraordinary!!! May God Bless you!
Matthew 6:33

To Meric, the only guy I know who confidently wears white, lavender, and red suits to school. I hope you keep your confidence as you search for your passion in this world. I hope you find it if you haven’t already! Congrats on all your hard work!

Meric,

When I first met you I really didn’t like you (and you didn’t like me because I missed the Mock Trial info meeting). But then you turned out to be a guiding light during freshman year, helping me figure out my place at King’s and gain confidence through mock. Your intentionality always made me feel seen and I’m grateful. I think back fondly on those memories and am especially thankful for all the laughter that ensued. Also remember that time we won Chick-Fil-A for a year? Wild times. Wishing you all the best beyond King’s (idk how they are going to function without you)!

We all know it will take about 6 people to attempt to replace you around King’s! This past semester felt strange and empty without you around. I can’t count the amount of times I watched you save someone, whether involving a class or an expense report! Can’t wait to see all the great things you’ll continue to do.

You are one of a kind Meric Pope! I wish you nothing but the best!

Mewic. Mewic is what brings us togeva today. You are a meme, you are a myth, you are a man, you are a legend. I had the privilege of not only taking classes with you but also working with you and I do not regret it at all. You’re commitment to hard work is astounding, you also are THE weirdest man I have and I will ever meet. Stay frosty my guy.

Meric! I remember thinking that you worked in every dept at King’s (and you practically did!). You are constantly giving to everyone at King’s and everyone sees it and is amazed by it (because you pack so much into so little time). Congratulations!

Congratulations, Meric, on 3 1/2 years of very hard work well done! Thanks for always knowing the answer and for having the kindness and patience to get others there, too. Blessings on everything ahead!

Money Man Meric (told you I would do it),

Remember that one time I was freaking out because I had no idea how to fill out an expense report sophomore year and you showed me how? Thank you for being a constant friend throughout the past years and a voice of reason in the constant chaos which I create. And even though you’re quite the bundle of contradictions, it’s been an absolute joy to get to know you. I could always count on you for an interesting debate or conversation. You’ve earned a cult like status at King’s and it’s clear they have no idea what they’re going to do without you. But beyond what you’ve done at King’s, I know you have one of the kindest hearts out of us all, always willing to take time out of your very busy day to help someone in need. I hope you continue to keep me updated on your interesting fashion purchases (though really, who am I to judge?) and send me pictures of dogs. But what I really admire most is that even though you were a business major, you still took time to read so many books and always asked for my recommendations which is the highest compliment for an English major. Congratulations on a job well done.

Post Script: I’ll admire you even more once you read Pride and Prejudice.

Meric, I know you’ve been out of studies for a few months now but I just want you to know it hasn’t been the same. You have contributed so much to our campus in so many different capacities and we were so blessed because of it. Thank you for all you have done. To top it all off, you balanced it all out with a stellar academic career. I am sure the future holds great things ahead for you! Blessings!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Meric, I was convinced you had more than 24 hours in your day with the amount of work you were able to get done. Thank you for spending some of those hours as my FA. I am going to miss you.

Meric!

You are one of the hardest working, down to earth, most amazing students I encountered at TKC. I’m so proud of you.

Congrats!!

Congratulations Meric! It was nice having you as a neighbor over in cubicle land! Thank you for all of your hard work for TKC that you performed so diligently!

Congratulations Meric! Watching you complete your studies and work at the school has been instructive to me because you did so with dedication and focus. I trust you will keep your gaze straight ahead and excel at whatever you have chosen to do now that you have graduated.

Great job and God bless you!

Meric, you are the person who kept me sane during Macro, Red and Green Affair, Statistics, and pretty much every other time I panicked about something in the library. You taught me more about time management than you realize, and humbled me with your eagerness to serve everyone around you when you were able. I can’t wait to see how God continues to use you!

Dear Meric,

You have been such a blessings at King’s. Thank you for modeling Christ in bringing your considerable abilities to bear on our mission. I know the best is yet to come for you, sir. May you know all of God’s richest blessings in Christ.

Meric!!! There’s no one I admire more than you at this college because you literally are the MAN! You do it all and with humility, grace, and a servants heart! It’s been a true privilege working with you and calling you friend. Don’t forget my name when you reach the top sir—don’t forget all our expense reports, event clean ups, bar tending, & Duane Reade runs! They’re memories I hold dear! Wish you all the best!!

Meric, I am signing this digital yearbook much later than expected, so please excuse the delay and know how much I enjoyed having you in both Constitutional Law and Statesmanship in your senior year. Congratulations on earning your degree and graduating cum laude! I look forward to staying in touch.
