Notes for Rachel

Your hard work has paid off, Rachel. Congratulations! What a pleasure to have met you and spent time with you these past few years. Your heart for the LORD and His people, as well as your academic prowess, make for a great foundation as you enter the next chapter. I can’t wait to see how your future unfolds!

Rachel! Thank you for being so incredibly kind to me in all your years at King’s. I felt so seen by you. I am so thankful you were in the House of Thatcher! You will be missed. Congrats on graduation!

Rachel, you’re an absolute joy in and out of class. Peace to you in your academic endeavors and try not to look so dour all the time. 😉

So many words, not enough space. My roommate, adopted sister, Ben Wyatt to my Leslie Knope, and soon fellow member of the John Jay community! You are going to be not only the most well-read historian, but the historian with the most physical and emotional strength. I love you and I’m endlessly proud of you! #24Ever

Rachel, you are so beautiful inside and out! I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes you and all the amazing things you will do. <3 Congratulations!

Rachel! I love you so much and I miss your sweet hugs. You would always greet me with so much kindness and sincerity. I am so incredibly proud of you and I know that you will do amazing things in the future. You are incredibly smart, athletic, and beautiful. Congratulations ♥️🎉

Rachel – you are an inspiration in every sense of the word. You are the most hard-working, dedicated, and healthiest person I know. You commit 110% to yourself, to your faith and to others which I adore completely. I loved being your roommate this year and getting to know you. You are the sweetest soul that loves so well. I will miss your hugs! Best of luck to you wherever God leads you next. ❤️

Rachel– I did not get to know you as well as I wanted to, but I want you to know that you have always been such a joyful and reassuring presence to me during my time at King’s. I’ve always loved sitting behind you in church and catching the train home with you, and I can’t wait to see all that you go on to accomplish!

Rachel, I’ve been so blessed to have you is several history classes, and in many more classes beyond those this past year. You are one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and I’ll miss seeing you carry giant boxes of files down the hallway or make facial expressions in class that make even the most confusing lecture 10,000x better. I can’t wait to see the history articles and books you’re bound to publish, and I wish you the best of luck in your post-grad endeavors!!

Rachel,

Wow, do you amaze me. You are so driven and so amazing. I hope that you fulfill all your wildest dreams. I can’t wait to hear all about grad school and after. Thank you for caring so deeply! Congratulations!

Rachel, you are such a sweet, life-giving gift to the world. I am so excited we get to graduate together and I am looking forward to all life has planned for you! I hope it is filled with sunshine and good conversation. Love and miss you. 🙂

Congratulations Rachel!
You’re inspirational and I know that the Lord will use you for big things in this world. <3

I can’t believe you’re graduating and that it has been more than three years since we started excitedly planning our first college apartment decor together!! I will never forget all the freshman year memories we’ve had together, introducing ourselves as the Rachels that were roommates from North Carolina 🙂 You made NYC feel like a safe and happy place to move to, and a place where I could grow personally and in my relationship with God. I am so glad we have that special bond <3 You've seen the good the bad and the ugly in me and love me so well anyway! You are genuinely one of the most disciplined, kind, and passionate people I've ever met. I have loved watching you grow and thrive at King's and know you are off to do incredible things. Congratulations sweet Rachel <3

Rachel!! I miss hugs from you! Thank you for always welcoming me to come to 24E and rant. Your sweetness and kindness and INSANE intelligence will take you far, friend!

Rachel, all I can say without sobbing into my salad is that you are truly one of the most Christ-like people I have ever met. It has been such a joy to see you grow (sometimes from afar) over these last three years, and I could not be prouder of the strong, wise woman you are. I love you!

Oh dearest Rachel! Words cannot express how much I admire your kind heart and sheer brilliance. It’s been a joy to go to church with you and get to know you little better this past year. You give amazing hugs, are so wise, the grace with which you live goes before you in all things. Best wishes in all your endeavors. Love live the Lady of the Historians!

Rachel,

Thank you for being my partner in crime for the History Minor Movie Night! It’s been great getting to know you over the last few years and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for you!

Rachel! Congratulations on graduating. I’ve always been so impressed by you and your work ethic. You’re a joy to be around, and I couldn’t be happier that I get to continue seeing you at church. Love you! Happy celebrating!

Rachel, you are sweet and kind and thoughtful. I have never heard a mean or negative thing come out of your mouth. You always inspired me to work hard in Dr. Brand’s electives, and I loved hearing your paper topics and your take on what we were learning. Your constant smile reflects the joy of Christ. You care for others so well. You are wise and intelligent. I am SO excited to see you become a John Jay fellow and watch you take on the world of academia. I know you will excel wherever you are!

From our first meeting in the library to being one of the last faces I saw in NYC before the world got crazy, I am so thankful to know you! You are such a hard worker and a positive spirit and I cannot wait to see where you go in life!

Best,
Serena

Rachel, you are so sweet and kind! I only wish we could’ve taken more classes together. I have always admired your sharp mind and gentle spirit l. Congrats!

Congrats Rachel!
I can’t believe our, seemingly both short and long, time at King’s has come to a close. I have loved having classes with you and really wish we had so many more Brand classes to enjoy together! Thank you for aiding me in my duck pranks and for always smiling! I will miss your hugs, our attempts to have coffee dates, and just your general bright personality. You’re gonna do great things and I can’t wait to see what they are! 💙💙💙

I recall our first class in Western Civ and how I hardly noticed the silent yet hardworking freshman. Four years later you have emerged as a student I am loathe to never teach again. I was blessed to teach you in all my electives and a senior thesis in addition to spending countless office hours discussing Cicero, Cavanaugh, Boudinot, Plutarch, and—best of all!—Voegelin. Between helping set up history meetings, celebrating saints with us in the shire, and writing some of the most amazing history research papers (esp. Jean Gerson!!), you truly were the “Lady of the Historians” at The King’s College.

Rachel: Before this digital yearbook is closed, I want to congratulate you on earning your PPE degree and graduating cum laude. I greatly enjoyed having you in Constitutional Law in fall 2019 and conversing with you outside class. Please stay in touch! If you are going to pursue a PhD in history, I would like to hear about it as you go forward. Wishing you many blessings in the years ahead.
